Rosh Chodesh Circle at P’nai Or
Contact: Rotating
The special holiday, Rosh Chodesh, marks the head of each month in the Jewish calendar. Legend says it started when the women of Israel refused to “fund raise” for the creation of the Golden Calf by donating their jewelry. Their reward was a holiday of no work on the first day of the new month. Others have connected the waxing and waning of the moon to a woman’s menstrual cycle. Whatever the reason, Rosh Chodesh Observance is a time for Jewish women to gather, recite traditional liturgy, share a meal, discuss Jewish ethics, and work for social change. Come celebrate the holiday and meet P’nai Or women.
Meetings
When: Saturday, November 30, 4:30-6:00 Potluck Dinner to follow.
This month we will create 5” x 8” collages as a spiritual practice. We will cull through magazines (I have an abundance of National Geographic Magazines) to find images that speak to us. And then we will construct cards that reach into our less explored personal visual language.
Host will provide the cards, glue sticks and National Geographic Magazines.
You will need to bring scissors (and possibly an exacto knife if you have one and would like to use it)
If you have rubber cement, that would allow you to move pieces even after they dry.
If you have any magazines with interesting images, especially ones printed on good quality paper, please bring them for yourself and to share.
